As Nova TV just reported, the well-known journalist of that TV station, Mislav Bago (49), died suddenly today. Index reports that he was found dead in Martićeva street in Zagreb.

Mislav Bago is a multi-awarded journalist, reporter, and political commentator (1973).

Started as a journalist/researcher at HRT in the TV Parlament newsroom. A year later, he also contributes to the editorial offices of news programs and religious programs. At the same time, he follows party life and the Croatian Parliament. He specializes in internal politics for the work of the Government and the Croatian Parliament.

Since 1995, he has participated in the creation of all election shows and actively monitors all processes related to elections; In 2001, he was the author of the election project for the first time, and after that, he continued to work extremely successfully for all elections in the Republic of Croatia. Mislav was also the editor of the show Otvoreno from 2006 to 2008, and a year later he became an editor and journalist at Nova TV.

He participates from the beginning in all important projects of the information program, from presidential and parliamentary local elections to elections for the European Parliament. It follows all major events such as political affairs but also other events that greatly affected Croatian society, the flood in Slavonia.

He has won many awards for his work. He received the Marija Jurić Zagorka HND award in 1998 for the best reportage in 2003 and 2006 for the best interview and the Journalist of the Year award in 2006 for a series of interviews with former prime ministers Ivo Sanader and Ivica Račan.

Mislav Bago lives journalism as a vocation, not just a job, he did not hesitate to ask the right questions, persistently and repeatedly. With his work, he greatly contributed to democracy, he passionately educated his colleagues as well as the audience, and always drew attention to important matters and the duties of a politician. Citizens and their well-being were always at the center of his work.

“Mislav left an indelible mark on Croatian journalism, but also our newsroom. He was a favorite colleague and editor, always ready to help. We all learned a lot from Mislav and admired his passion for work, always with a new idea, always one step ahead. His sudden departure is a great loss for all of us”, said the director of Nova TV’s Information Program Ksenija Kardum.
