Media daily, the only regional specialized portal for the media and telecom industry, will also this year conduct its 5th independent selection of the best and most professional news portals in six countries (Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, and North Macedonia). After five years of evaluation, we decided to introduce some new features in the selection.

Evaluating excellence, quality of journalism, and user experience, this year we will choose from 20 pre-selected portals, which is 10 fewer than in previous years. The reason for the decrease in the number of portals in the competition is a noticeable drop in the quality of portals in their professional work, so we decided to deny such portals the opportunity to even enter the circle of the best in order to strengthen the competition. The work of the news portal will be monitored and evaluated by our expert jury, and the portals will receive part of the points from the audience, that is, readers.

The novelty of this year’s election, for the same reason, is that we will not stick to the proportionality of the size of the country to the number of candidates from it, but those who deserve it will be selected for the short selection, regardless of the country they come from. It is thus possible that some smaller states, which have better quality portals, have more candidates in the election than those that are larger.

The election for the best regional news portal will be conducted in November, and the announcement of the winner and the ranking of all 20 portals will be announced on December 9, 2022, at noon.
