Pavel Stantchev is the executive director of the largest Hungarian TV group TV2, and recently in the same position in the Slovenian Planet TV. This international TV professional was born in Sofia, Bulgaria, and graduated in journalism in Paris in 1992. He started his career as a business development manager in the largest Swiss media group Ringier AG, in 1992. In his 27-year career in media and television, he was the CEO of BTV Media Group and Nova TV in Bulgaria, the CEO of Antenna Group South-East Europe, as well as the CEO of Planet TV Slovenia, TV Prva Srbija, RTL Hrvatska, HBO, and Kanal D in Romania. He joined the TV2 team from the French house TF1, where he held various management positions, including CEO of TF1 Distribution. He is now back in Slovenia on Planet TV, which he led in 2013. At that time, the owner of that television was the Greek Antenna Group together with Telecom Slovenia. The Greeks withdrew from the market because they failed to win it, and the company he now owns was bought from Telecom Slovenia. But losses and a bad financial situation remained.

Why did you decide on this investment, and what goals did you set for yourself?

The Slovenian public did not receive the appearance of TV2 very well. The prevailing opinion is that this is a “political trade” between Prime Minister Janša and Orban. What do you have to say about that?

You told Watch Weekly that you consider it possible in the future to produce program content for Slovenia in Budapest. Explain how you envisioned it and what type of production you meant?

In Slovenia, you recently founded a company with the iconic name TV2 Adria. I read your statement to Kreativ that TV2’s plans are an international expansion. Does this mean that TV2 Adria, in addition to Slovenia, is also looking for business opportunities to expand to Croatia, Serbia, and other ex-Yugoslav countries?
